36 notesWe’re very proud of Rita Dove, editor of The Penguin Anthology of 20th-Century American Poetry, who received the National Medal of Arts from President Obama today, becoming the youngest ever poet to do so. She is the only person to have received all three of America’s highest arts and humanities distinctions: the Humanities Medal, which she received in 1996; the Poet Laureateship, which she held from 1993-1995; and now the Arts Medal.
She’s an amazing woman, an incredible poet, a brilliant editor, an inspiring teacher—and we’re so happy to have the pleasure of working with her.
